ABCZ Command Glossaries For Instant
Text And MS Word
A new way to use the keyboard!
Cheryl Flanders and Jon Knowles of ABCZ Software have teamed up to produce a set of glossaries which make use of the very powerful Command feature in Instant Text V Pro. These glossaries are for use with Word and WordPerfect. This site describes the MS Word version.
For WordPerfect and Shorthand For Windows glossaries, please visit Jon's web site: http://home.earthlink.net/~agjon/.
What can these glossaries do? The primary glossary is WordCommands.glo, a 734-entry file, which allows you to use the home row and neighboring keys much more, and the mouse, F-row and top row keys much less!
All this is accomplished by scripting the "Command" entries in Instant Text, which enables the transcriptionist to do far more than enter text -- you can literally issue commands telling Word to open a menu or submenu, to move up or down or left or right in a document or move to a new Window, to open or close a document, to copy or delete words, change a word ending, find a hard-to-remember submenu feature, and more -- by typing a few letters of a word or phrase and a marker key. All this is accomplished without having to remember arcane key combinations, devise, record and make a shortcut for a macro, or stretch to reach far-off keys to type difficult key combinations. With the WordCommands glossary you simply type the words that come to mind when you think of a particular feature. For example, to go down two lines, type go2. To print, type print. To insert a comment type insert. To save and close a document, type sacd. To copy a line to a header, type colth. To convert surgery to surgeries, type ytos or ytoies. There are many other features of Word you can access with these 734 commands. A Word document with further instruction for using the glossaries is included in the set.
The WordCommand glossary can be used not only for text entry, but also as a unique tool to teach or relearn Word keystroke combinations or Word menus. This glossary can be cross-referenced with Word's ListCommands macro that produces a document listing of all Word's shortcuts and commands for further reference or study.
In addition, when you need to type headings, there is a set of 16 Headings glossaries. Each glossary includes approximately 350 headings, pre-typed and pre-formatted for bold, all caps/initial caps, underlined, etc. You quickly access the headings using ABCZ short form methods.
